Omega Sister

Adams, Frances Jean (Horton) Frances Jean (Horton) Adams, 86, passed away on May 12, 2017 with loved ones by her side. She was born on April 16, 1931 in Guntown, MS, to Clarence and Carmen Horton. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Murray, KY where she met Charles Robb "Bob" Adams who was to become her husband of almost 66 years. After graduating from high school in Murray, she obtained her B.A. and M.A. degrees from Murray State University. In 1964, Frances moved with her husband and three children to Albuquerque, NM where she obtained a job as a teacher for home bound students. She subsequently accepted a counselor position at Rio Grande High School, and in 1972 transferred to Albuquerque High School where she served in counselor positions for 22 years, retiring as Head Counselor in 1994. In retirement, she was active in ADK Sorority where she held numerous leadership positions over the years. Frances was a member of St. Stephen's Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Her greatest joys in life were caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as cooking and baking for her extended family and friends. She loved to quilt, sew, do needlepoint, and care for her flowers and plants. "We love and miss you, Nanny, until we meet again." Frances is survived by her husband, Bob Adams; daughter, Karen Davis (Scott) and daughter, Kaye Riggs (Greg); son, Charles Kelly Adams (Lisa); grandchildren, Adam and Erin Davis, Callie Dauler (Jeff) and Kristen Riggs, Nicholas, Christopher and Bryan Adams; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Erik and Emory Davis; siblings, Clarence Rae Horton, Effie Kemp, Joe Lovett (Purdom), Nick Horton (Frankie); sister-in-law, Doris Jones; brother-in-law, Pat Jones; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH â€" Wyoming. Friends may visit beginning at 9:00 a.m. Following the service, a reception will be held at the home of Karen and Scott Davis. Private interment will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Elan Santa Monica for their extraordinary tender, loving care and support throughout the last few weeks of Frances' life.
